Landslide closes Iloilo-Antique road

ILOILO – The San Joaquin, Iloilo – Hamtic, Antique Road became temporarily impassable to all vehicles due to a landslide yesterday.

A portion of a mountainside in Barangay Qui-anan, San Joaquin collapsed around 4:30 a.m.

“Ang karsada halin San Joaquin – Hamtic-San Jose, Antique (Tiolas-Quianan) temporaryo nga indi ma-agyan sang gagmay kag dalagko nga salakyan nahanungod sa nagluntad nga landslide kaina sang kaagahon,” read part of the advisory of the San Joaquin Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC).

The District Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways and the MDRRMC immediately conducted a road clearing.

As of the 3:30 p.m. advisory of the San Joaquin MDRRMC, the road was already passable to light vehicles only. Clearing was continuing

The San Joaquin, Iloilo – Hamtic, Antique Road serves as the main road for motorists going to and from the provinces of Antique and Iloilo./PN
