ANTIQUE – One of the suspects in a shooting incident died after fighting back at the authorities on Sunday night, July 30, in Barangay Binanuan, Barbaza.
Suspect Joven Samillano was declared “dead upon arrival” at the town’s Pedro L. Gindap Municipal Hospital due to abdominal and leg gunshot wounds.
His accomplice, Vivencio Demetrio, was collared on Monday morning.
According to the Barbaza Municipal Police Station (MPS), a concerned citizen called past 7 p.m. over a shooting incident. It was allegedly over an old grudge.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old victim, Melvin Antonio, died while being treated at the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital in San Jose de Buenavista town.
The Barbaza MPS said Demetrio would face a murder charge, while a certain Jackie Necor will be charged with obstruction of justice for allegedly helping Demetrio escape./PN
