BACOLOD City – Forty-six job order (JO) employees in this city tested positive for illegal drugs.
A total of 640 city government personnel were subjected to random drug test yesterday, Aug. 1.
Of the 46 JOs, 29 were under the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office and 17 were under the Public Order and Safety Office.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said all personnel who tested positive for illegal drugs were immediately terminated and would be subjected to rehabilitation.
“If they get better and recover, they may be reconsidered for hiring by the city government,” the mayor said.
After yesterday’s press conference, Benitez also underwent a drug test in his office at the Bacolod City Government Center. He tested negative.
According to the mayor, they and the Bacolod City Police Office underwent drug tests to ensure that no government personnel were using illegal drugs./PN
