ILOILO City – The city government will recognize top taxpayers and outstanding Ilonggos as one of the highlights of the 86th celebration of the Iloilo City Charter Day on Aug. 25.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said the committee he created is finalizing the list of awardees who have big contributions to the city and its economy.
The awardees will be announced this week.
This year’s Charter Day celebration is themed “Trailblazing Ilonggos Leading the Way to Sustainable Progress.”
“Our theme is really to show that we have gone a long way because of the contributions of our business community, amo na ang mga taxpayers, the contributions made by outstanding Ilonggos coming from different fields,” said Treñas.
Aug. 25 is a special non-working holiday in Iloilo City as declared by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. through Proclamation No. 306.
“…it is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Iloilo be given opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” read part of the proclamation signed by Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin by authority of the President./PN
