ILOILO – The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) warns motorists to be vigilant against a possible landslide recurrence in Barangay Tiolas, San Joaquin.
On Tuesday night, Aug. 1, loose soil and rockfalls were again observed, prompting the MDRRMC to close the road.
“Temporaryo liwat nga gin sarado ang karasada sa Indigasan Tiolas, nahanungod sa liwat nga pag hulag sang mga bato kag amat-amat nga pag us-os sang lupa,” read part of the advisory of the San Joaquin MDRRMC.
Motorists were advised to take a detour at the Anini-y – Dao, Antique coastal road.
As of 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2, the road became passable for light vehicles.
“Gina-abisohan ang tanan nga magalabay nga may pag-aligmat kag maghalong sa mga bato nga posible nga nagahulog,” the San Joaquin MDRRC said.
A landslide at the San Joaquin, Iloilo – Hamtic, Antique Road occurred on Monday around 4:30 a.m. making it temporarily impassable to all vehicles.
The San Joaquin Municipal Engineering Office, General Services Office, and Department of Public Works and Highways immediately deployed heavy equipment to clear the debris.
The San Joaquin, Iloilo – Hamtic, Antique Road serves as the main road for motorists going to and from the provinces of Antique and Iloilo./PN
