BACOLOD City – The City Legal Office (CLO) warned business establishments within the 200-meter radius of schools against selling liquor.
City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr. said the city government is conducting inspections. Violators face closure.
City Ordinance No. 450, Series of 2007, prohibits and penalizes the sale of liquor, beer or other intoxicants.
The ordinance not only limits liquor sales to minors but to all ages if the establishment is within 200 meters of the school.
A mother, through the city’s “Isugid kay Mayor”, scheme reported that her son got drunk in an establishment near a school on Lizares Street.
Ting clarified that the establishment being complained about by the mother hds been issued a permit to operate as a cafe.
The CLO began its inspection last week with the Bacolod Permits and Licensing Office, Police Station 6, and the Department of Social Services and Development.
Lieutenant Dax Santillan, station commander of Police Station 6, warned underage individuals to bring identification cards for their safety, and emphasized the importance of adhering to laws./PN
