BCPO orders halt to ‘perya’ gambling

BACOLOD City – Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director Police Colonel Noel Aliño ordered all carnivals or peryahan to halt gambling operation

According to Aliño, illegal gambling is one of the primary sources of conflict in villages.

He especially cited the pula-puti game, usually played during barangay fiestas, due to the significant amount of bet money involved.

The city police director also warned the owners of gambling stalls that they might face arrest and charges.

Aliño mentioned, too, that he might call for removal of village officials who fail to stop illegal gambling in their respective areas.

The police director said he prefers seeing more amusement rides than gambling stalls. (Watchmen Daily Journal)
