ILOILO City – A high-value drug suspect was arrested in his house in Barangay Canabajan, Calinog, Iloilo.
The 39-year-old Roel Cerbolles was caught by the Calinog police and Iloilo Provincial Police Office – Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit around 10:10 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 7, through the strength of a search warrant issued by Judge Gemalyn Faunillo-Tarol of the Regional Trial Court – Branch 76 in Janiuay town.
Police Major Myles Dieron of the Calinog police station said they recovered 35 grams of suspected shabu valued at around P315,000, a .45 pistol with four ammunition, and a fragmentation grenade.
“We arrested him through search warrant kay gusto namon makuha firearm niya kag granada. He was supplying (illegal drugs) to neighboring towns that’s why medyo daku nakuha naton,” Dieron told Panay News.
Dieron added: “Nagapakita-kita siya sang granada sa mga tawo to sa ila lugar that’s why we applied for a search warrant instead of carrying out a buy-bust.”
Police intelligence report showed that Cerbolles got his illegal drugs from drug suspect Rene Aguilar Paches, 41, of Barangay Man-it, Passi City, who was arrested on Aug. 1 on Jayme Street, Barangay Luna, Jaro, Iloilo City.
Calinog police believed that the seized illegal drugs from Cerbolles were part of the 570 grams of shabu with a street value of P3,876,000 that were recovered from Paches.
Cerbolles was taken into custody by the Calinog police station.
He will be charged for violations of Republic Act (RA) 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and RA 9516 (illegal possession and manufacture of explosives)./PN
