ILOILO City – A viral video of a scantily-clothed young woman doing racy dance moves has prompted Mayor Jerry P. Treñas to shut down a bar in Mandurriao district.

Yesterday afternoon, MO2 ICE Iloilo at the popular Smallville Complex was slapped with a closure order.

The order was served by a team composed of personnel from the city government’s Business Permits and Licensing Office, Task Force on Morals and Values Formation and the Iloilo City Police Office.

In its official statement, the management of MO2 ICE Iloilo issued an apology and assured the public it does “not tolerate this kind of behavior.”

The dancing young woman in the viral video could be seen mashing her breasts and showing off her underwear and tattooed belly and butt. Around her, bar customers enjoying her performance were cajoling her to do more. She seemed to be enjoying the attention.

“We cannot allow these things here, especially those really against public morals,” said Treñas.

MO2 ICE Iloilo acknowledged it had been remiss. Its closure will run for three days.

“We have no excuse on the conduct unbecoming of one of our customers but we promise to keep on working hard so that (such) incident will not happen again,” part of it statement read.

Treñas welcomed the public apology but he emphasized that “sometimes these things are not enough.”

“We are a very business-friendly city but there are certain rules we need to follow…we have finished talking already, it is time to start doing something,” the city mayor stressed.

The MO2 ICE Iloilo incident happened just days after Treñas conferred with operators of bars and night clubs about improving their operational standards.

“If you are an establishment and you allow something like that tapos naga-cheer pa ang mga tawo, daw nasadyahan, and no one was doing something about it, then someone should be held liable,” said Treñas.

The young woman in the viral video was earlier speculated to be a minor but there were reports she was already 18 and a Grade 10 student.

According to TFMVF head Nestor Canong, the city government through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) will take the necessary steps to rescue the minor and possibly introduce psychosocial intervention./PN
