BACOLOD City – The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) issued a memorandum circular directing barangay officials to conduct an inventory of government properties under their custody in preparation for this year’s Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
According to the memorandum circular, government properties need to be turned over to the incoming barangay and SK officials before Nov. 30, 2023.
This includes the listing of all barangay and SK properties entrusted to the incumbent officials and the liquidation of financial transactions before the end of their term.
DILG-Negros Occidental Provincial Director Teodora Sumagaysay said officials who fail to comply with the DILG memorandum may face penalties.
The severity of penalties will depend on the evidence presented by the violators, she added.
The provincial director also urged the public in the upcoming elections to vote wisely and requested elected officials to cooperate with DILG regulations. (Watchmen Daily Journal)
