BACOLOD City – A P100,000 reward awaits anyone with information that would lead to the arrest of the suspected leader of the Caunda drug group.
Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director Police Colonel Noel Aliño identified the suspect as Camaria Caunda, a woman.
Aliño refused to give further details about Caunda’s background. However, he confirmed that one of her suspected right-hand personnel was arrested in Cebu province.
The director suspects Caunda was using buses via the city’s BREDCO port to smuggle illegal drugs to other areas.
The BCPO has not monitored existing links between Caunda and any politicians in the province.
Aliño further said Caunda does not operate a shabu laboratory in Negros Occidental. The police, however, is verifying the drug group’s alleged connection with the Cuadra Drug Group.
Earlier on Thursday, a suspected member of the Caunda Drug Group, 45-year-old Michael “Tata/Toto” Frias, was arrested with P14.3 million worth of shabu in Purok Pablo Torre, Barangay Vista Alegre.
Last week, the BCPO arrested another suspected Caunda Drug Group member, 31-year-old Gycelle Bonagua, in Barangay Singcang-Airport. An estimated P8.82 million worth of shabu was seized.
Also caught in the same operation were Michael Ramos, 43, of Antipolo, Rizal, and Rizald Lapag, 33, of Purok Zaylan, Barangay 4, Bacolod City. (Watchmen Daily Journal)
