Kaya-Iloilo women’s team on a roll in PFF Women’s League

MANILA – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo women’s team welcomed back their Filipinas players with a resounding 4-0 victory over Tuloy FC in the PFF Women’s League over the weekend at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

Philippine Women’s Football Team defender and co-captain Hali Long and goalkeeper Inna Palacios made their return for Kaya-Iloilo after the conclusion of their campaign in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Ilongga Hazel Lustan, Bacolodnon Irish Navaja Shelah Mae Cadag and Camille Rodriguez scored a goal each as Kaya-Iloilo notched its fourth consecutive win for 15 points in the standings.

Cadag opened the scoring for Kaya-Iloilo with her connection in the 19th minute, it was followed by Navaja’s conversion three minutes before the end of the first half. 

Rodriguez and Lustan continued the goal spree for the Iloilo City-based booters with their connections in the 84th and 89th minutes as they stayed on top in the league.

Unlike Long and Palacios, the debut of Filipinas members Olivia and Chandler McDaniel for Stallion-Laguna FC was met with a 4-0 defeat to De La Salle University.

Former national women’s football team Alisha del Campo netted a brace in the 25th and 89th minutes as the three-time champions DLSU claimed their fourth win of the season.

Maria Layacan and Angelica Teves also found the back of the net in the 18th and 33rd minute, respectively, for De La Salle’s lopsided victory over Stallion-Laguna.

In other results, Manila Nomads FC banked on a late Stacey Arthur equalizer to draw University of Santo Tomas, 1-1. Stephanie Logastua scored the first goal for the Tigresses in the first half.

Far Eastern University also collect their fourth win after a 5-0 win over Azzurri SC. Goal scorers for FEU are Dionesa Tolentin, Katrina Magbitang, Judie Arevalo, Jonela Albino, and Sarahgen Tulabing./PN
