BCPO sees bigger drug haul leading to MassKara

BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is stepping up its campaign against illegal drugs in preparation for the MassKara Festival in October.

They are expecting bigger confiscations, according to Colonel Noel Aliño, BCPO director.

The recent high-value seizures, he said, were a sign that drug dealers have started stocking up their supplies for the MassKara festivities.

Aliño said he ordered police commanders and anti-drug operatives to prioritize targeting high-value individuals.

If high-value drug suspects are caught, the supply flow of illegal drugs will also be disrupted, he explained.

The BCPO director even pointed out that based on their latest monitoring, the druggies tagged as street-level individuals were already finding it difficult to access their supply.

On Aug. 10, P14,382,000 worth of shabu was seized from high-value drug suspect Michael “Tata/Toto” Frias in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Vista Alegre here.

On Aug. 3, the BCPO also arrested Gycelle Bonagua in Barangay Singcang-Airport. An estimated P8.82 million worth of shabu was recovered.

The suspects were later identified to be members of the Caunda Drug Group. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
