ILOILO City – Two people died in two separate vehicular accidents in Iloilo province on Saturday, Aug. 19.
The first incident was on F. Cabarles Street, Leon. The 20-year-old Quiel John Calumno of Barangay Isian Victoria, Leon died of head and body injuries.
Investigation showed that around 8 a.m., while the victim was executing a left turn, he was hit by a motorcycle driven by Don Rex Cabansag, 19, of Barangay Cagay, Leon.
Calumno died at the Aleosan District Hospital, while Cabansag was brought to the Guimbal District Hospital for minor injuries.
Meanwhile, in Barangay Madarag, San Enrique 68-year-old Nelson Enriquez of Barangay Poblacion, Calinog died attempting to overtake a truck driven by Rodel Padrogane, 43, of Barangay Paga, San Enrique.
Enriquez lost his balance and was run over by the truck, according to Police Master Sergeant Elmer Lamera.
“Wala to sya napatay sa pagtumba nya sa motor kaso lang nalasak sya sang truck kay didto man sya natumba sa lane sang truck,” Lamera said.
The truck driver is in the custody of the San Enrique police./PN
