ILOILO – The provincial government is now accepting applications from persons with disability (PWDs) and Indigenous Peoples (IPs) who wish to avail themselves of the Educational Assistance Program.
The program provides financial aid to economically marginalized and deserving PWDs and IPs who desire to pursue tertiary education in state colleges or state universities (public) in the province.
Applications are open until Friday, Aug. 25.
For school year 2023-2024, the province will accept 41 PWD and 50 IP scholars.
Rapunzel “Rara” Ganzon, social welfare and development officer IV of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and focal person for PWDs, said applicants could visit their office at the second floor of the provincial capitol.
What are the qualifications?
* must be a bonafide resident of Iloilo province
* must be a registered PWD/IP in their locality with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO)
* must be presently enrolled in any course in college at any state college/state university within the province
* must have a general weighted average of not less than 80% on the senior high school card or the latest semester attended
* must have a family annual gross income of not more than P150,000
* must not be presently enjoying any scholarship or study grant
What are the benefits?
* P3,500 monthly allowance for housing, transportation, food, board and lodging
* P2,000 book allowance per semester
* a total of P41,000 in grants per school year
What are the requirements?
* accomplished application form with one 2”x2” recent photo
* photocopy of PWD ID card
* certification from MSWDO as a registered PWD
* Social Case Study issued by the MSWDO (applicable for PWDs)
* Certificate of Residency issued by the punong barangay
* photocopy of the most recent registration form (RF)
* copy of grades for the latest school year attended
* certification from the school that the applicant is not a recipient of any other scholarship grant
How to apply?
Applicants should accomplish the application form and complete all documentary requirements, which should be submitted to: Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, 2nd Floor, Iloilo Provincial Capitol, Bonifacio Drive, Iloilo City.
