Man with gun, grenade runs amok

ILOILO City – A construction worker armed with a .38 pistol and a hand grenade ran amok in Barangay Veterans Village, City Proper on Friday, Aug. 25.

The 21-year-old Chrysler Panes was recently granted bail for an illegal possession of firearms charge.

Barangay officials reported the incident to the police around 11 a.m.

“Ang nanay mismo sang arestado ang ga-complain nga buligan sila. Considered na ini siya [Panes] nga notorious criminal. Sang 17 years old pa lang sya, ginbuno niya iya pakaisa. Then subong based sa initial investigation, gabaligya kuno siya illegal nga droga. But during sa pagresponde naton wala kita may nakita,” said Police Captain Roque Gimeno III, officer-in-charge of Iloilo City Police Station I (ICPS-I), in an interview with Radyo Bandera Iloilo.

Panes admitted that the person who gave him the firearm and grenade was from the island province of Guimaras.

He is now in the custody of ICPS-1./PN
