Defensor appoints new dep’t heads

ILOILO – Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. recently appointed two department heads and one assistant department head of the provincial government.

Former Oton mayor Vincent Flores Jr. will lead the General Services Office (GSO) and former 1st District Board member Renee Valencia of Tigbauan town will lead the Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO).

Allana Delgado was appointed the assistant department head of the Provincial Library and Archives.

Valencia, meanwhile, was described by the governor as perfect for the job. She had a background in human resources before her political stint. She is also a lawyer and a certified public accountant.

Flores took over GSO officer-in-charge Alma Ravena while Valencia took over HRMDO officer-in-charge Ma. Jesusa Concepcion Garrido.

Flores served as vice mayor and mayor of Oton but lost to now-Mayor Sofronio Fusin Jr. in the 2022 midterm elections.

Valencia was a third-termer Provincial Board member who ran for mayor of Tigbauan in the 2022 midterm elections but lost to now-Mayor Virgilio Teruel.

Delgado, meanwhile, was chosen to spearhead the Provincial Library and Archives for being an experienced librarian.
