ILOILO – Two persons were arrested for illegal fishing in Bukot Island, Barangay Talotu-an, Concepcion.
Aries Artisana, 35, of Barangay Tanza, Estancia, and Benjie Santillan, 39, of Barangay Caw-i, Batad were caught in the act by the Bantay Dagat around 12:40 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9.
“Ang duha ka mga persona karon ang nahunong sa custodial facility sang Conception MPS (Municipal Police Station). Na-file na ang kaso sa ila for violation of sections 86 and 95 of Republic Act (RA) 8550 as amended by RA 10654,” said Edward Cabugwason Jr., a non-uniform personnel of the Concepcion MPS.
Cabugwason also said many boats from other areas are fishing in the area, most of which do not have permits.
“Ang mensahe [of Concepcion MPS chief Major Samuel Vipinosa] sa aton amo ang sunod lang kita sa layi. Kun gasunod lang kita sang layi sa pagpanguha sang isda wala gid sang dapat kaproblimahan. Gamit lang kita sang may permit nga fishing boat kag ang aton mga paraphernalia ang ayon man dapat sa layi,” Cabugwason added./PN
