BACOLOD City – More small rice retailers in Negros Occidental complying with the government-imposed price cap will each receive their one-time P15,000 cash assistance today.
The payout will be held at the Bacolod City Government Center.
Lynna Cardinal, director of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Negros Occidental, said most of the over 200 rice sellers were registered with the Business Processing and Licensing Office (BPLO).
Cardinal also assured that this won’t be the final distribution of assistance under the Sustainable Livelihood Program – Economic Relief Subsidy.
In the next payout, the DTI provincial director is hoping that sari-sari stores could be included.
On Sept. 13, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6 started distributing cash assistance to rice retailers in Western Visayas to help them cope with the impact of losses due to the imposition of a price ceiling on rice prices in the country as mandated by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. under Executive Order 39.
Thirty-seven micro rice retailers in Negros Occidental were the first to receive the cash aid. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
