ILOILO City – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has made it clear that no money or fees should be paid in its recruitment process.
Police Major Mary Grace Borio, PRO-6 spokesperson, issued a warning to all applicants, emphasizing the importance of applying directly to police offices and not to third-party recruiters.
“I would like to inform the public that the PNP does not require any significant amount for admission,” Borio stressed.
She further underscored that the recruitment process strictly adheres to proper procedures and does not condone any form of favoritism or the padrino system.
The PRO-6 aims to recruit 300 new police officers to meet this year’s attrition quota.
“For those who wish to join the police force, it is essential to apply in person. Do not entertain individuals offering assistance, and refrain from engaging with intermediaries,” Borio added.
This warning came after an alleged police recruitment scam in La Castellana, Negros Occidental, where 47 applicants were supposedly asked to pay amounts ranging from P247,000 to P300,000 each to gain entry into the police organization./PN
