Over 2K police aspirants in WV start training

ILOILO City – A total of 2,140 individuals aspiring to join the police force in Western Visayas are presently undergoing training. Among these candidates, 66 are females who will be subjected to neuro-psychiatric examinations in the upcoming week.

The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) needs to recruit 300 new police officers to fulfill this year’s attrition quota. This quota aims to address vacancies created by retirements, deaths, removal from rolls, separations, dismissals, and resignations within the police force.

Police Colonel Luther Lugo, the head of the PRO-6’s Regional Recruitment and Selection Unit, noted that 10 percent of the 300 positions would be allocated to females or patrolwomen.

Lugo emphasized that successful applicants must excel in all evaluations, particularly the agility fitness test designed to assess their physical condition.

“Many individuals have applied with a desire to join the police force, but they must successfully pass all the required tests,” Lugo stressed.

The PRO-6 reiterated its stance against any form of favoritism or the patronage system, emphasizing a commitment to fairness in the recruitment process. Additionally, it has made it clear that no fees or payments should be demanded during the recruitment process.

Major Mary Grace Borio, spokesperson for the PRO-6, issued a stern warning to all applicants, underscoring the significance of applying directly through police offices and not relying on third-party intermediaries.

“For those aspiring to become part of the police force, it is imperative to apply in person. Do not entertain offers of assistance from individuals or engage with middlemen,” Borio said./PN
