VETERAN broadcaster and journalist Ces Drilon became the talk of the town earlier this week as her advertisement for a milk tea brand went viral on social media for its relatability.

In an exclusive interview with PUSH, she narrated how glad she is that the netizens took the commercial well.

Ces played the role of an employee who had to deal with several unfortunate events that added to her stress while in transit to her office. She later finds out in the commercial that she didn’t even have work that day as it was a weekend.

The 61-year-old broadcaster shared that prior to her agreeing to do the commercial, she had a pre-production meeting and had the storyboard sent to her to review. She was later on convinced by her manager that doing the advertisement was a good choice.

“We had a pre prod meeting after being sent the storyboard and I had no issues with it. My manager Ranvel Rufino assured me it would be a good [advertisement],” she shared.

The commercial has since then garnered hundreds of thousands of views on various social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter). The ad showed the popular meme “Stress Drilon” — named after the journalist — personified in a number of situations.

“From the very start I found it amusing! In fact, I embraced it very early on. It must have been the mid 2000s [when the term Stress Drilon started]? It was known as bekispeak or bekimon,” she said of being a meme.

When asked about what her family thought about the advertisement, Ces proudly shared with PUSH how much they loved and found humor in it.

“My family loved it and laughed along with everybody else and like me [were] so amazed at the reactions and the sharing that happened,” she said.

Ces admitted that she isn’t afraid to take on such quirky commercials in the future as she is happy for being seen as someone who is “natural” despite the decades of experience she has in newscasting.

The veteran broadcaster did disclose, however, that she has other ways of relieving her stress aside from the comedic punching/stabbing of the huge milk tea cup as seen in the commercial.

“I always begin my day with gratitude and thanksgiving. I find joy in the simple things in life ––the sunrise, plants, flowers. I also validate myself always and lastly I think positive,” she said. (PUSH)
