ILOILO City – MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) is intensifying its operational readiness to guarantee uninterrupted electricity in this city for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections this Oct. 30.
The president and chief executive officer of MORE Power, Roel Z. Castro, assured continuous service during his recent visit to the office of Iloilo City’s Commission on Elections (Comelec) officer, Atty. Reinier Layson.
Castro mentioned that they conducted clearing and maintenance activities near polling centers to prevent any potential disturbances to electrical lines that might lead to unexpected power outages.
They will deploy additional response and security teams to oversee polling centers on election day and throughout the canvassing process, ensuring prompt action in case of any electrical issues.
The Task Force BSKE of MORE Power will have a separate command and monitoring team to oversee electrical-related concerns.
“We are giving the assurance na ginagawa po namin ang lahat ng preparation and we make sure na hindi magkakaroon ng unscheduled outage or untoward outage during the election period particularly on the election day,” said Castro.
According to him, the company has already finished all hotspot corrections for all electrical lines leading toward the polling centers to ensure that there will be no jumpers. These jumpers are often the cause of unscheduled brownouts because they may create an imbalance in the electrical load.
The high and red alert of MORE Power will last until all winning candidates are proclaimed.
“I visited Atty. Layson sa Comelec office to assure him and, more importantly, the voters. This should be a brownout-free election,” added Castro.
Atty. Layson was very thankful to Castro for personally reaching out to the COMELEC Office and laying out the plans and the current scenario on the ground.
“I was surprised by his visit, and we really appreciate the assurance of MORE Power,” said Layson.
During the 2022 elections, Comelec and MORE Power entered a Memorandum of Agreement for the same partnership./PN
