BACOLOD City – This city’s Local Market Committee (LMC) has identified the designated areas for vending flowers and candles ahead of the annual observance of “Undas.”
These designated areas were the Bacolod City Public Plaza along the streets of Gonzaga and San Juan; Libertad Market along Hernaez and Mabini streets; and Burgos Market and North Public Cemetery (Burgos Cemetery) along Burgos Street.
A “no permit, no vending” policy is strictly implemented in the said areas.
City Administrator Pacifico Maghari III, chairperson of the LMC, said about 400 vendors have been processing their special permit. The permit would take effect from Sunday, Oct. 29, until Nov. 2.
Each vendor would occupy a 1-by-1-meter space.
Maghari added that to be fair to those who secured the permits, his office and the City Enforcement Team of the City Legal Office would monitor the designated areas.
The city will also monitor the pricing of the products in the designated areas.
Vending inside all public cemeteries in the city is not allowed, Maghari stressed.
On the other hand, a road closure would be implemented along Burgos Street, specifically the road along North Public Cemetery.
Aside from North Public Cemetery, the city government oversees cemeteries in barangays Granada, Handumanan and Sum-ag./PN
