The Balai Munti Housing Project

IN A WORLD where the significance of a home cannot be overstated, the City Government of Muntinlupa has taken a commendable step towards uplifting its residents by inaugurating the Balai Munti Housing Project. This endeavor, which was recently unveiled to the public, signifies more than just brick and mortar; it symbolizes dignity, opportunity, and the promise of a brighter future for MuntinlupeƱos.

On October 18, Mayor Ruffy Biazon, joined by a cohort of local and national officials, cut the ribbon on ten new buildings within the Balai Munti Housing Project, situated in the Lakeview area of Barangay Putatan. The event was not just a celebration of architecture; it was a celebration of human dignity and the realization of dreams.

Mayor Biazon eloquently captured the essence of this initiative when he declared, “Having a home address of your own is as significant as one’s birthday or wedding anniversary. It gives dignity to a person, and it opens new opportunities.” Indeed, having a place to call home is more than just a physical structure; it’s a foundation upon which individuals and families can build their lives, their aspirations, and their futures.

The Balai Munti Housing Project, with its “Balai Munti, Putatan” address, might seem like a simple change, but it represents a profound transformation for many MuntinlupeƱos. It’s a testament to the fact that the government cares about the welfare of its citizens, ensuring that they have a sanctuary where they can thrive and prosper.

The significance of this project goes beyond the local level, as it has garnered support from national government agencies. The presence of notable figures like Rep. Jaime R. Fresnedi, Vice Mayor Artemio Simundac, Sec. Gerry Acuzar of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), and Pag-IBIG Fund CEO Ms. Marilene Acosta at the inauguration demonstrates the collaborative effort put forth to make this dream a reality.

Acknowledging the key role played by former mayor and current congressman Fresnedi, Mayor Biazon praised Fresnediā€™s contributions to housing in the city, emphasizing that it takes an entire community to uplift its members.

Sec. Gerry Acuzar highlighted the challenges posed by the housing backlog, emphasizing the need for continued support and resources to address this issue. It’s a reminder that the government’s limited resources must be wisely allocated to benefit as many citizens as possible, making initiatives like the Balai Munti Housing Project even more critical.

In a heartwarming twist, the event also recognized the dedication of four local government employees by awarding them raffled housing units. This gesture not only underscores the inclusivity of the project but also shows that the city values its workforce, acknowledging their hard work and dedication.

What sets the Balai Munti Housing Project apart is its commitment to sustainability. With its own wastewater treatment facility, the project ensures that it minimizes its environmental impact, safeguarding the local ecosystem.

The Balai Munti Housing Project is more than just a collection of buildings; it’s a beacon of hope, a symbol of dignity, and a testament to the power of community and leadership. It represents a city that cares for its residents, a government that works tirelessly to uplift its people.

Free Maintenance Medicines

The City Government of Muntinlupa recently launched program, “Love ko si Lolo, Love ko si Lola, Libreng Gamot para sa Senior Citizens” (I Love Grandpa, I Love Grandma: Free Medicine for Senior Citizens), by offering them free maintenance medications for diabetes and hypertension.

The program is in line with Mayor Ruffy Biazonā€™s 7K Agenda which prioritizes the health and well-being of its senior citizens. Recognizing the ever-increasing costs associated with managing conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure, the City Government has allocated funds to provide essential medicines including losartan, amlodipine, and metformin.

Eligible individuals can visit their nearest Barangay Health Center on designated days or head to the Office of Senior Citizens’ Affairs (OSCA) in Bayanan or the Kalingang Munti Action Center (KMAC) at City Hall during regular working hours.

Applicants are required to bring their OSCA ID or any valid identification card that verifies their current address and birthdate. Additionally, they must provide both the original and a photocopy of a prescription for their maintenance medicine issued within the past three months.

By providing free maintenance medicines, the city is not only easing the financial burden on its senior citizens but also ensuring that they can lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. After all, as the saying goes, “A society is judged by how it treats its weakest members.”/PN
