ILOILO City – The annual observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ days in Western Visayas has been generally peaceful.

The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has recorded zero untoward incidents among cemetery-goers.

Brigadier General Sidney N. Villaflor, PRO-6 director, said robust interventions and collective efforts have resulted in a notable decrease in crime incidents.

From Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, only 108 crime incidents were reported, marking a 42.25 percent decrease compared to the 187 incidents recorded in 2022.

Moreover, focus crimes saw a significant drop, totaling only nine incidents, or a 62.5 percent reduction from the previous year’s 24 incidents.

Safeguarding the peace during the observance were 3,814 security forces. The security forces included 1,607 police personnel, 648 augmentation personnel stationed at various police assistance desks and hubs, and 1,559 force multipliers.

“We consider the just-concluded Undas celebration as another accomplishment. No incidents related to the observance of Undas were reported, which can be attributed to the citizens’ cooperation and adherence to the law,” said Villaflor./PN
