BACOLOD City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has approved the dismissal of a police officer assigned to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) for testing positive for illegal drugs. Police Brigadier General Sydney Villaflor, regional police director, confirmed signing the dismissal order in a radio interview.
In July of this year, 5,694 police officers under PRO-6 underwent drug tests. Two of them later tested positive for illegal drugs, one of whom was assigned to the NOCPPO.
Villaflor said the two cops were given the chance to undergo confirmatory drug tests, but the NOCPPO cop refused and admitted to using illegal drugs.
The PRO-6 director added that if a police officer tests positive for drug use, they will be provided with a copy of the result and will be given 15 days to respond if they wish to contest the results.
The same specimen will also be submitted to an accredited drug testing center of the Department of Health. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
