ILOILO – A 43-year-old man has survived a stabbing in Barangay Pakiad, Oton. The suspect was allegedly the husband of his live-in partner.
Victim Raymund Java and suspect Victor Nicoyco were both residents of Barangay Abilay Sur, Oton.
According to Staff Sergeant Johannes Sorongon, an investigator from Oton Municipal Police Station, Nicoyco went searching for Java. Upon finding the latter, he grabbed a knife from his tricycle and immediately attacked the victim.
The suspect had been drinking, Sorongon added.
Java’s companions managed to wrestle the knife away from Nicoyco and restrain him until authorities arrived.
The victim suffered a cut on his hand while the suspect was brought to Western Visayas Medical Center for treatment of various head injuries.
Police are awaiting the victim’s decision on whether to press charges./PN
