ILOILO – A motorcycle accident in Barangay R. Armada, Janiuay, has resulted in the deaths of a police officer and his male passenger.
The fatalities were identified as Patrolman Jhon Stephen Suresca, 26, who was assigned to Cabatuan Municipal Police Station, and his friend John Mark Afflicion, 28, both residents of Barangay Mangil, Janiuay.
According to Captain Alwin Salmon, officer-in-charge of Janiuay Municipal Police Station, the incident occurred at around 3:35 a.m. yesterday, Nov. 8.
Based on a preliminary investigation by the Janiuay police, the motorcycle veered off the road upon reaching a curved stretch, likely due to miscalculation, Salmon said. Additionally, the road was slippery due to the rain. As a result, the motorcycle skidded and crashed into the concrete barrier by the roadside.
Both Suresca and Afflicion were immediately rushed to Janiuay District Hospital, where they were declared dead upon arrival. They sustained fatal head injuries, according to the attending physician./PN
