MANILA – Quezon City Gerflor Defenders veteran Danika Gendrauli has appealed to the team management to heed their players’ concerns.
Alongside delayed salaries, the Cebuana volleyball player emphasized the need for the Defenders’ management to address the inconsistency in training venues and times.
“Sana may stable kami na mapagti-trainingan, hindi ‘yung kung saan saan kami pumupunta na barangay para lang makapag-training,” said Gendrauli.
“Sana pakinggan din kami na kailangan din kami na makumpleto sa training kasi if pipilitin namin na ganon na oras ‘yung gusto nila, for example morning, eh most of my teammates are working,” she added.
“Kung lima lang magti-training parang ang lungkot naman di ba? Sana pakinggan kami na sana gabi ang training, kahit na wala kaming ano (sweldo) makapag-ensayo pa rin kami,” she further said.
The former Southwestern University Cobras standout added that they are making an effort not to let the internal issues affect them, but she acknowledged that some of her teammates are demoralized.
“Thankful pa rin ako na naiintindihan nila (netizens) ‘yung situation namin kung bakit nga na kung ganon ‘yung performance namin kasi ‘yung iba sa mga teammates ko down na talaga sila,” she said.
“Kasi ‘yun nga, pumasok nga raw sila dito para makapag-income, lahat naman siguro tayo kailangan natin ‘yun di ba?” added the 32-year-old Gendrauli.
Gerflor faced criticism following a viral social media post from a supposed player regarding delayed player salaries and an unsafe training venue, prompting PVL to intervene and conduct their own investigation.
The Defenders management, in a separate statement, has acknowledged the problem with their players and coaches and has vowed to work on an immediate solution privately./PN
