ANTIQUE – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has advised consumers in the province of Antique to check the label or packaging of Christmas lights.
According to DTI-Antique, consumers should look out for the Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) sticker paired with the ICC certificate or the Product Standard (PS) Mark Globe Check sticker or printed in the box or package paired with the PS License of the manufacturer.
“Consumers are encouraged to check for the PS Mark or ICC Mark on Christmas lights before making a purchase,” the trade regulation department said in an advisory.
These certifications guarantee that Christmas lights meet safety and quality standards under Philippine product laws.
To verify if the ICC stickers are genuine, consumers can download on their Android phone the ICC verification app from the Play Store that they can use to scan the QR code found on the boxes of the Christmas lights.
Upon scanning, information on the lights will appear, matching the information on the box.
These certifications guarantee that Christmas lights meet safety and quality standards under Philippine product laws.
The DTI-Antique further said that when in doubt about the attached mark, consumers may check the Bureau of Product Standards Certificate, which contains information such as the manufacturer’s details, address, license number, certificate number, product, brand name, types or models, and approval date.
This proactive measure by the DTI aligns with its commitment to ensuring the safety and quality of products on the market.
