BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) seized around P726,00 worth of suspected shabu in various anti-drug operations in the province from Nov. 12 to 20.
NOCPPO spokesperson Major Rhojn Darell Nigos yesterday said they have confiscated a total of 106.8 grams of suspected shabu and arrested 23 drug suspects. They were charged for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022.
Police also recovered two firearms from two drug suspects, who faced additional charges for violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
Also in the same period, Nigos said 27 individuals have voluntarily surrendered their firearms in exchange for bags of rice as part of NOCPPO’s “Armas Baylo Bugas” program against loose firearms.
The provincial police also conducted a total of 18 operations targeting illegal gamblers which resulted in the arrest of 84 individuals and the confiscation of P10,860 in alleged gambling money. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
