BACOLOD City – A dozen employees of the San Carlos city government in Negros Occidental have tested positive for drug use.
A total of 98 employees, including those assigned to their satellite offices, underwent a “surprise” drug test on Thursday, Nov. 23.
Mayor Renato Gustilo said of the 12 drug-positive employees, 10 were job-order casuals, and two were regular employees.
San Carlos City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (SCCADAC) Secretariat Ana Luza Macaraya said job order employees will automatically be discharged from work.
Meanwhile, regular employees will be informed through a letter and undergo disciplinary actions depending on the result of the Drug Dependency Examination under the Civil Service Commission guidelines.
Earlier in July, a job order in San Carlos City also tested positive for illegal drugs and was subsequently dismissed.
The involved job order was immediately referred to the City Health Office for further assessment and was given a choice to undergo drug rehabilitation. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
