MANILA — Philippine government and National Democratic Front of the Philippines have reached a tentative agreement to seek a peaceful resolution to armed conflict, according to Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity Carlito Galvez Jr. on Tuesday.
Dubbed the Oslo Joint Communique, the agreement between the two parties said they recognize the root issues of the armed conflict.
“The parties agree to a principled and peaceful resolution of the armed conflict,” the accord stated.
“Resolving the roots of the armed conflict and ending the armed struggle shall pave the way for the transformation of the CPP-NPA-NDFP,” said the Communique.
Galvez admitted, however, the agreement has no immediate effect, as preliminary talks have just begun.
All operations pertaining to the NDF will continue, he said. (Jean Mangaluz © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
