ILOILO – A newly-elected barangay councilman died while his wife sustained injuries after their motorcycle collided with a taxi in Barangay San Antonio, San Miguel.
Jun Jun Brillantes, 44, and wife Marilou, 46, were residents of Barangay Agboy Norte, Leon, Iloilo.
According to Major Richard Lao, chief of San Miguel Police Station, the couple was on their way to San Miguel from Leon on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Taxi driver Ryan Claro, 40, of Barangay Cabutungan, Leon, lost control of his vehicle when he reached a sharp curve in Barangay San Antonio, causing him to hit the couple’s motorcycle.
The husband was brought to a hospital where he was declared dead while the wife was taken to the Western Visayas Medical Center for treatment.
Claro is now under the custody of the San Miguel police. Charges are being prepared against him./PN
