NOW that Jessy Mendiola’s daughter with Luis Mansano is turning a year old later this month, the actress revealed that she is eyeing a comeback to acting in 2024 after years of hiatus from show biz to focus on being a mother.
Speaking to the press, Mendiola said that despite motherhood having neither a beginning nor an end, she plans to go back to acting next year.
“Forever naman talaga ang pagiging ina, but ‘yun nga pinaplano ko next year, babalik na ako,” said the actress.
Mendiola also expressed her worries that, given her inactivity, show biz might have forgotten about her.
“Kinakabahan nga ako kasi baka nakalimutan na ako ng show biz, pero I’m very grateful na bawat post ko nandoon pa rin ‘yung mga tao na nagsu-support sa akin,” she said.
The actress revealed that there have been many acting offers for her but that she was not yet ready at the time, as she wanted her daughter to turn one year old first.
“Last year pa, even before ako mabuntis marami nang nag-o-offer, mga teleserye. Actually, ngayon may movie na offer sa’kin, hindi pa’ko ready ngayong taon kasi gusto ko mag-one year muna ‘yung anak ko,” she said.
The “Maria Mercedes” breakout star noted that her husband is very supportive of whatever role she plans to take on when she comes back to work.
“Si Luis, super supportive siya, as in sa lahat ng gusto kong arte sa buhay. He’s always been there, and until now, talagang sinasabi niya sa’kin, ‘Kahit anong gusto mong gawin, love, go,” narrated Mendiola.
Given that the actress rose to fame after her sensual roles, the question remains whether she will still go in the same direction.
“As long as the story is good, as long as the script is good, and as long as you want to do it, why not. But gusto ko rin ma-try ‘yung maging mom. As a leading lady, bagay pa naman sa’kin, ‘di ba?” she said. (Jessica Ann © Evangelista Philippine Daily Inquirer)
