‘Birada Semana’ nets P48.9-M ‘shabu,’ 173 fugitives

ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) seized 7,202 grams of suspected shabu valued at P48,973,600 during a weeklong law enforcement operation dubbed “Birada Semana” from Dec. 11 to 17.

Moreover, a total of 34.1 grams of marijuana, valued at P4,092, were recovered.

The 60 crackdown operations against illegal drugs led to the capture of 78 drug suspects.

In the campaign against fugitives, 172 operations were carried out. These resulted in the arrest of 173 individuals, of whom 28 were tagged as the most wanted.

In the campaign against loose firearms, 130 firearms, and 15 explosives were either recovered or surrendered. Of the 16 operations executed, 17 individuals were arrested.

Further, the 33 operations against illegal gambling resulted in the apprehension of 131 individuals. Law enforcement authorities also confiscated bet money amounting to P22,825.

Police Brigadier General Sidney N. Villaflor, regional director of PRO-6, commended all units in Western Visayas for their remarkable contributions and notable achievements in upholding peace and order.
