Roxas City among ‘food destinations’ — travel platform

ROXAS City – This component city and capital of Capiz province has been listed as one of the “Tastiest Travel Destinations” in the country this year, according to digital travel booking platform Agoda.

Known as the “Seafood Capital of the Philippines,” Roxas City offers the freshest fish, squid, and oysters, as well as dried fish.

According to Agoda, foodie travelers can immerse themselves in local sustainable practices that help preserve food sources. It recommended a visit to the Palina Greenbelt Ecopark, which lets visitors take a closer look at seafood farming, interact with fisherfolk responsible for the protection and cultivation of provincial seas, and have a chance to dig into the catch of the day inside a floating cottage, which allows tourists to take in nature views along with their delicious meal.

The travel platform cited the Filipino street food experience at the Maragtas Street Food Market every Friday afternoon.

It also mentioned that the city keeps its heritage alive through the old colonial architecture of the Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral and the Provincial Capitol.

Agoda said that after Iloilo City was named a Creative City for Gastronomy, the country solidified its status as a food destination and is a good place to start one’s food journey.

Aside from Roxas City, among the “Tastiest Travel Destinations” cited were Davao City and Angeles City in Pampanga./PN
