BACOLOD City – At least three companies have already expressed interest in participating in the bidding process for Negros Occidental’s P1.2 billion bulk water supply project.

According to Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, the three companies are Manila Water, Aboitiz InfraCapital, and Balibago Waterworks System.

They have bought access to the bid documents for P150,000 and the right to participate.

Diaz said the deadline for the other companies that are interested in the project will be at the end of January.

A pre-selection of the qualified company would then be conducted on Feb. 7.

The Negros Occidental Bulk Water Supply Project aims to provide sustainable and potable water to the residents of the province.

It involves the financing, engineering design, construction, operation, and maintenance of a bulk water supply system with a minimum capacity of 34.5 million liters per day to be sourced from the Imbang River in Talisay City and the Malogo River in Silay City, which will serve as water sources.

If successful, the project is expected to supply treated bulk water to six water service providers in Silay City, Talisay City, Victorias City, Bacolod City, and the municipalities of Manapla and EB Magalona. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
