BACOLOD City – The Liga ng mga Barangay in Negros Occidental elected its new president on Friday morning, Jan. 12, at the Seda Capitol Central in this city.
Barangay 2 captain Richard Sablan from Victorias City will also become the ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP).
Sablan will be replacing former SP ex-officio member Juvy Pepello, who also hails from Victorias City.
In an interview following his election, Sablan said he will continue the projects that Pepello had already implemented, particularly the campaign to make all barangays in Negros Occidental drug-free.
He also plans to visit every village in the province in order to allow the other village chiefs to forward their concerns.
Other elected Liga ng mga Barangay officers are Anabella Bermudo of La Carlota City, vice president; and Jerome Agustin of Cauayan, auditor.
The Board of Directors are Henry Alcorin of Don Salvador Benedicto, Marlon Malacon of E.B. Magalona, Elir Borres of Sipalay City, Ronnie Salo of Manapla, Freddie Mongcal of Hinigaran, Rico Regalia of Kabankalan City, Alfredo Martin Cui of San Carlos City, and Paul Leonard De Oca of Talisay City.
