ILOILO City – Western Visayas’ No. 10 most wanted person was arrested in Barangay Poblacion, San Dionisio, Iloilo for nine counts of rape.

The 38-year-old “Nonoy,” of Barangay Cudionan, San Dionisio and a construction worker, was served with arrest warrants at approximately 8:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, in the town’s Barangay Poblacion.

According to San Dionisio police chief Lieutenant Edward Villanis, the incident happened sometime in 2023 at the suspect’s house when their parents and relatives were not around.

The victim was “Nonoy’s” minor sister, who was 16 years old at the time.

The suspect denied the accusation hurled against him.

“Before his warrant came out, we already zeroed in on his whereabouts, and we immediately arrested him on Monday,” Villanis said.

His apprehension was made possible by the warrants of arrest issued by Hon. Jose Mauricio Gomez, Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court 6, Branch 71 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo dated Jan. 18, 2024.

No bail bond has been recommended for his temporary liberty.

Police Regional Office 6 director Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor commended his personnel for responding to his order to run after wanted persons.

“I want my police chiefs to review the list of wanted persons in their area and arrest them if there’s an arrest warrant,” Villaflor said./PN
