BACOLOD City – Alden De Leon, a 59-year-old resident of Sitio Mambucano, Barangay Cabatangan in Talisay City, Negros Occidental allegedly died due to a severe beating.
Major Karena Onio, deputy chief of the Talisay City police, revealed that an altercation occurred during a birthday celebration on Tuesday night where De Leon and the 19-year-old suspect, Jesus Palma Jr., were in attendance.
Onio said that despite attempts by their family to intervene, the victim bore the brunt of Palma’s beating.
De Leon’s lifeless body was discovered by his live-in partner, Alma Palma, in the early hours of the following morning. His body has been submitted to a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.
The police, meanwhile, have apprehended Palma Jr. pending further investigation.
Onio reminded the public to drink alcohol moderately to avoid violent incidents.
“Better gid ya nga wala sang inom pero syempre kay part sang tradisyon sang mga Pilipino, dapat moderate lang guihapon para malikawan naton ang mga ini nga insidente,” Onio said in a Panay News interview./PN
