Victorias kicks off 26th Kadalag-an Fest

BACOLOD City – The city government of Victorias in Negros Occidental officially kicked off this year’s Kadalag-an Festival on Thursday.

The kickoff on March 21, which coincided with the city’s Charter Day celebration, began with a thanksgiving mass, followed by a civic-military parade and an opening ceremony led by Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez.

Tonight, March 22, the 12 stunning Sidlak Kadalag-an Queen candidates will reach the finale of their journey to the crown.

The star-studded coronation night will be held at 8 p.m. at the City Sports and Amusement Center, and to be hosted by Miss Supranational 2023 1st Runner-Up Pauline Amelinckx.

Most of the events slated for the three-day celebration will be held at the Sidlak Victorias Global City in Barangay XIII.

The city government advised revelers, as they immerse themselves in the vibrant celebration of the 26th Kadalag-an Festival, to keep their bodies hydrated as the province is currently experiencing the El Niño phenomenon.

Two drinking stations are available for revelers to refill their tumblers and bottles, ensuring they stay refreshed throughout the celebrations.

The city also offers free transportation services to and from the Victorias City Public Plaza to Sidlak Victorias Global City until the festival highlights on March 24.

Benitez said, “For 26 remarkable years, Victorias City has stood as a beacon of consistency, commemorating countless milestones and triumphs. Today, as we embark on another chapter, we embrace the legacy of resilience and progress that defines our community.”

He added that this year signifies yet another stride forward for Victorias, a testament to the unwavering commitment to growth and prosperity.

Benitez enjoined everyone to reflect on the collective journey and resilience that have carried the city through challenges./PN
