Mini truck hits senior

ANTIQUE – A senior citizen died while being treated at the hospital after he was hit by a mini truck in Barangay Malandog, Hamtic, Antique, on Easter Sunday morning, March 31.

The victim was Bernardo Melivo, 70, a laborer and resident of the said barangay.

Meanwhile, the mini truck was driven by Marvin Lagunday, 26, a resident of Barangay Atabay, Alimodian, Iloilo.

The initial investigation of the Hamtic Municipal Police Station showed that the white mini truck was from Sebaste town and headed to Iloilo City.

Lagunday reportedly did not see the victim riding a bicycle.

Melivo fell and had a serious impact on the head, prompting responders to immediately take him to the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital.

The mini truck driver, meanwhile, was taken to the municipal police station.

According to Staff Sergeant Mark Joseph Montalban, investigator of the Hamtic police, the driver will likely face a charge for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide./PN
