ANTIQUE – In response to the extreme heat conditions, 13 local government units (LGUs) in the province of Antique have suspended face-to-face classes.
According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), the suspension began on Wednesday, April 3, following the issuance of executive orders by the concerned local chief executives (LCEs).
The affected towns and the duration of their class suspensions are as follows:
* Belison, Hamtic, Tobias Fornier, Sebaste, San Remigio (April 3 to 5)
* Valderrama (April 3 until further notice)
* Anini-y, Culasi, Patnongon, Libertad, Sibalom, Barbaza, Laua-an (April 4 to 5)
Sibalom will also suspend classes on April 8.
Broderick Train, head of the PDRRMO, said schools have shifted to Modular Distance Learning to avoid disrupting the education of students during this period.
Train advised the public to avoid overexposure to hot areas, especially from 10 a.m. o 2 p.m., due to the risk of heat exhaustion, heat cramps, and heat stroke./PN
