KALIBO, Aklan – The Kalibo Municipal Police Station’s Special Drug Enforcement Team apprehended an individual suspected of drug trafficking in Barangay Poblacion.
The suspect, identified only as “John”, was arrested at approximately 3 p.m. on April 9 during a meticulously organized buy-bust operation led by Police Master Sergeant Hansel Quinesio Jr., under the oversight of Poloce Lieutenant Colonel Ricky Bontogon, the Kalibo chief of police.
“John” was caught in the act of exchanging suspected shabu for marked currency with an undercover officer.
The police seized a total of seven heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing the suspected narcotic, including the one involved in the transaction and six additional sachets found in his possession, alongside P1,000 in marked buy-bust money.
Following his arrest, John was promptly informed of his constitutional rights in line with the Anti-Torture Act of 2009 (Republic Act 9745).
The authorities are currently preparing the charges to be filed against him for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
