BACOLOD City – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Bacolod City has identified the owner of the dismembered body parts found outside their office last month.
On Friday, April 12, Atty. Renoir Baldovino, head of NBI-Bacolod, named the victim as Baltazar Lamata from Barangay Pahanocoy.
Earlier in March, Baldovino confirmed that Lamata, a drug suspect, was a resident of Bacolod City.
According to Baldovino, Lamata’s family reported him missing a week before the gruesome discovery was made at approximately 5:45 a.m. on March 1 outside the agency’s office along Aguinaldo Street in Barangay 4.
The mutilated body parts, which included a left hand, a left leg, and a pair of ears, were discovered by a job-order employee of the NBI, along with a message stating, “William De Arca NBI Protector ni Hanz Lopez Drug Lord.”
Baldovino confirmed that Lamata was the owner of the body parts based on fingerprint analysis results.
NBI officers are currently in contact with Lamata’s family to continue the investigation.
Baldovino also addressed allegations of a feud within the law enforcement agency, stating that the incident was not related to any internal issues.
The NBI-Bacolod has faced suspicions regarding why the office’s closed-circuit television cameras were turned off at the time the body parts were left./PN
