ILOILO City – A store owner was arrested for selling an unlicensed homemade firearm in an entrapment operation in Barangay Pulo Maestravita, Oton, Iloilo.
The 35-year-old alias “Nonoy,” a resident of said barangay, was detained at the Oton Municipal Police Station (MPS). He will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The operation was carried out by the Oton MPS, 1st Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company and Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Intelligence Unit around 10:32 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Abner Jordan, chief of Oton MPS, said a poseur buyer bought from the suspect a caliber .45 pistol (Colt MK IV) model with four ammunition for P20,000.
Prior to his arrest, the police received information from a concerned citizen that the suspect was engaged in gun running activity.
“We immediately transacted the suspect through our asset which resulted to his arrest,” Jordan told Panay News.
Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), lauded the accomplishment of his personnel.
“Rest assured that PRO-6’s relentless effort and campaign against loose firearms will continue,” said Wanky./PN
