ILOILO City – A total of 319 officers from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) completed training for the Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay (RPSB) program, designed to enhance police-community relations and promote the bayanihan spirit.
The graduation ceremony took place yesterday, following a comprehensive 12-day training period.
The PRO-6 program fosters collaborative partnerships and grassroots involvement to effectively and efficiently address local security and safety concerns, said PRO-6 director Brigadier General Jack Wanky.
The trainees, drawn from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Mobile Forces, will be stationed in geographically-isolated and disadvantaged areas across the region.
Their deployment aims to facilitate necessary services in these areas, based on assessments by the concerned PNP units in coordination with other government agencies.
General Wanky emphasized PRO-6’s goal of establishing a more symbiotic relationship with the communities it serves, aiming to build mutual trust and cooperation.
“We want to bring the police closer to the community by placing officers in barangays,” he said.
Meanwhile, Major General Robert Rodriguez, the Area Police Command-Visayas chief and guest speaker at the graduation, praised the 319 officers for their rigorous training.
He highlighted the dual goals of the program: to enhance community relations and combat insurgency.
“The service you render, filled with compassion and kindness, will leave a lasting impression on the hearts and minds of the people,” said Rodriguez./PN
