ILOILO – This province’s athletes, coaches, chaperones, trainers, and other delegates have received their allowances on time for their participation in the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet 2024 in Negros Occidental.
The funds were distributed on April 20 and April 30 to 818 delegates attending the WVRAA scheduled from May 2 to 7, according to Dr. Ernesto Servillon Jr., Iloilo Schools Division superintendent,
The total allowance reached P19,334. For the training period, each delegate received a training allowance of P1,750, a food allowance of P10,500, and a transportation allowance of P589. For the WVRAA Meet itself, they got P1,500 for transportation, P4,545 for meals, and P450 for participation.
The delegation from Iloilo includes 543 athletes, 83 coaches, 19 assistant coaches, 33 chaperones, 43 trainers, and 95 delegation officials.
Servillon credited the timely distribution of allowances to efficient coordination with the Office of the Governor and the Provincial Finance Office, early transaction processing, accurate document submission, and effective mobilization of Division Office personnel.
The provincial government allocated P12.2 million for the allowances and uniforms of the athletes and coaches.
Expressing optimism, Servillon said providing allowances on time could further motivate the athletes in their sports endeavors.
“I share the same hope and am currently staying at our billeting quarters with them,” he replied when asked by Panay News.
Iloilo was the overall champion at the 2023 WVRAA held in Makato, Aklan, securing 229 gold, 154 silver, and 100 bronze medals across various categories./PN
